Comparing Manchester United Fans to District Attorney Legal Assistants

A friend sent me an article about the Brighter Monday United Support Club (BMUSC). They formed BMUSC in 2006 to bring “long-suffering Manchester United fans in Britain and abroad together with their fellow supporters in a way that was fun, entertaining and effective”. We are now worldwide, with a membership of over 900 fans, and multiple regional and country branches. The club currently has members in the UK, Europe, North America, South America, Africa, India, and the Far East.

While reading the article I thought about how the fan dedication, support, and teamwork of BMUSC members, and all Manchester United fans, can be compared to the support legal assistants provide comprehensive support for district attorney legal assistants in the courtroom. BMUSC members are the “hardcore fans” who dedicate their lives to Manchester United Football Club. This is seen both on and off the pitch. They attend games in the rain or sun. These dedicated fans appreciate a display of passion and commitment from their players and have a passion to match. The members’ spirit, passion, and devotion show the world they are the best fans. District attorney legal assistants put that same spirit, passion, and devotion in our cases. We take our responsibility seriously to ensure the office attorneys are set up for success in the courtroom.

Dedicated Manchester United supporters will get up early, depending on time differences, to watch their team play. This is done whether they are Christian, Muslim, or Hindu. The members’ approach to matches gives us insights into how to prepare for and approach matches. District attorney legal assistants, like Manchester United fans, prepare for and approach every day in the office with that same spirit of dedication, passion, and devotion to their office and their job.

Working as a team, Manchester United fans work together to get their message out to other fans and projects the fan culture and identity. Everyone gets involved, and each member helps by volunteering in some way. A District Attorney legal assistant’s job is a lot like this, we have to work together as a team. We do not always have enough resources in a day to get everything done. We have to take the initiative and be proactive, and help each other when needed our office’s success depends on it. We also have a sense of responsibility. Spirit and passion alone aren’t good enough.

Being strategic in football fans see the match from all angles, use the newest technology, and study the play itself from all angles so they can celebrate the moment without tension a win for Manchester United. They have to be very strategic in how they apply their resources, whether that is their money for travel to games around the world or how you use their phones and tablets to watch the match online in real time. District attorney legal assistants also have to be strategic in how they apply their resources and keep abreast of the best technology to help the attorneys they support. We have to be strategic about how we spend our time, prioritize our assignments, and be selective about what we take on. Being strategic helps us deliver results and meet our office’s objectives.

Manchester United fans, like legal assistants, know what it is like to lose, but we are always there to support our teams. We are known as the best supporters in the world! We have accomplishes great results, and have high performance levels and aspirations. With drive, dedication, and ambition, we know how to handle adversity. By working together, we have a resilient approach to sustaining our success levels.

Comparing the success of Manchester United fans and teams to the success of a district attorney legal assistant is an easy comparison. The two share qualities such as the spirit, dedication, passion, and devotion. We share the same values of commitment and excellence and have giving without restricting egos. We show our shared qualities and values by showing affection and having a caring attitude.
